Day 11: Wednesday June 20, 2007 - First there were Twelve.

Today was 175 miles from Mena AR to Pine Bluff AR. Once again they started us in three groups separated by one minute each. There were 12 in our "fast" group. After a while there were 8. After lunch there were 5. We worked together and got in at 4:39 PM. So... we rode 10 hour and 9 minutes finishing first and getting our names on the whiteboard - Mark Pattinson, Charles Breer, Peter Beeson, Ed Pabst and Vernon Smith. A lot of things were wet from the day before so I didn't take any pictures. Temperatures were in the 90's with high humidity.

Vernon. The video clip (worked fine on my computer) confirms the intensity of the storm. The rain soaked wrinkled hand shot reveals your own personal intensity. You said biking helps you with your stress management....hmmmm sure looks/sounds stressful, but I suppose in an entirely different way from day to day stress. I guess in a "glad to be alive" way, as you so state. Be safe. Love you. Valerie

Vernon,
The vidoe clip worked beautifully!! I'm just glad you were able to avoid the hail that can turn the road into a skating rink. Congrats on being consistent in the "fast group", I would expect nothing less. Glad to hear you keep surviving and even prospering on your ride. Keep on rockin' man!!!

Wow! What an epic day you had yesterday. In an odd way many don't understand, I'm still jealous.

Be safe Vern, we are all behind you!

Oh, from earlier: VLA = Very Large Array

Forgot to mention; based on one of your previous comments, us NM riders would have needed full rain gear...or a good trash bag.

Valerie, Paul and Mike: Thanks for the comments. Camera seems to be malfunctioning now.
